01.30.01 @ 4:18PM EST ~ More Pics Added

I've added some more pictures to the gallery. I made separate pages for each of the characters, and you can view their pictures in full size by clicking on the small picture.

01.30.01 @ 3:19PM EST ~ Theme and Game Details

FFX moves away from the usual themes of previous Final Fantasies. Instead of focusing on 'life' and 'love', FFX focuses more on 'change' and 'independence'. The gameplay will have a theme of 'travel'. The game is supposed to have a greater sense of travel, due to the lack of a separate world map.

Boss battles will take place on the same screen as the player moves, though regular battles will have a separate battle screen. The development team lacked the time to implement the same screen battles into regular battles.

The battle system will include limit breaks, although they are more specialized for the character they belong to. Parties have been reduced to three characters, however, in battle a non-party member can be called to participate at any time.

Battles will not give experience points. Experience will be gained in a new form, which has yet to be announced.

Blitzball is planned to be included as a mini-game, however, the team isn't sure if they can complete it in time. The game is played with six players on a side, and is described as a "cross between basketball and soccer with a touch of rugby."

01.18.01 @ 9:06PM EST ~ Official Names

The official English names have been announced for the two main characters of FFX. As expected, Yuna will be the name of the heroine, however, the name Tidus may come as a surprise.

01.18.01 @ 8:56PM EST ~ 'Okinawan' Feel

FFX diverts from the style of previous games in the series with an Okinawan feel. The game will reflect the unique culture of the islands on the southwest coast of Japan. The palm trees and oceans seen in some of the early screenshots reflect the tropical setting. Yuna is dressed in clothing very similar to Okinawan clothing. Tida's clothing, however, doesn't quite fit this style, except the segmented nature brings to mind Japanese male formal wear. The names also have significance to this Okinawan style. Yuna in the local dialect means 'hibiscus flower' and Tida translates to 'sun'.

01.12.01 @ 5:34PM EST~ First Pics in the Gallery

The first pictures have been added to the gallery. There are two character pictures, one of Tida and one of Yuna. The new FFX logo has also been placed in the Gallery.
